Look, I’m not going to lie to you. The title of this weekly series is “15 Songs I’m Digging Right Now.” Naturally, the playlists are often going to reflect whatever I, Grace, am doing that week. The L.A. fires have a lot of its residents in this sort of weird anxiety paralysis. It’s not safe to go outside. So, naturally, I have been playing video games. This week, I sought out a game:
I’ve already played
Is addicting (I can have a little self-destruction as a treat)
Playable on my Macbook M2 Max
Scratches a creative itch
So, with the help of some tutorials—both video and text-guided1—I landed on Fallout 4. If you add the hours I spent playing in 2016 and then later during the pandemic, I’ve probably logged about [large number redacted due to embarrassment] hours of Fallout 4 on my PS4. What it boils down to is I’m really into building settlements (I am a Sims girl at heart, after all) to the point where, during the pandemic, I was on Pinterest adding to my “settlements” Pinterest board.
You might be asking: What does this have to do with music? (If you’ve played Fallout, you knew where this was headed eight sentences ago.) The Fallout game series famously features in-game radio stations that play era-appropriate music, usually from the 1930s to the 1960s. Having logged the aforementioned censored number of hours, I’m grossly familiar with all the songs featured on the radio station in Fallout 4. So, this week I’ve been listening to a lot of vocal-heavy Fallout 4 inspired tracks on my own.
This week’s playlist won’t be for everyone. But the Friday 15 is a promise of the tracks I’m digging this week.
Congrats, The Council Women (an awesome dance group out of L.A.–one member is currently the co-captain for Beyoncé’s dancers, the other was featured in Kendrick’s last two videos), you are this week’s Video Of The Week!
I looooooove the song in this video:
“Maku Wrong (feat. Madanon)” - QUE DJ, Madanon (2020)

Also, I haven’t watched the Fallout Amazon series yet, but I’ve heard good things. What are your thoughts on the music used in the show? Do they feature any of the Diamond City Radio classics? Let me know in the comments!
