A Playlist For Smoking A Joint In The Bath
Music for getting in the bath and feeling warm all over—in every sense.
There are two types of “getting high and listening to music.” When I think of the first, I remember being in high school, coming home after smoking a joint in a friend’s car, and going up to my room to listen to Radiohead’s “Sit Down. Stand Up” on my iPod. I was so spellbound, I thought I’d permanently damaged my brain. Everything I’d ever heard about weed from Cool Older Siblings was turning out to be true: I was finally experiencing the clichéd “Whoaaaa… music is crazy” moment, stoned out of my mind.
To be fair, can you imagine being a teenager, the highest you’ve ever been in your life at the time, listening to this:
There’s a time and place for getting this kind of high. A warm bubble bath is not one of them. With my high school years behind me, if I do partake in THC and all she has to offer, I mostly crave the kind of low-level high that feels like a warm hug.
I need something familiar and unobtrusive. I need something soothing and simple. If it’s a woman singing, I kind of want her to sound a little stoned too.
I present to you my own personal bath playlist, slightly expanded. I’ll be honest: putting this music together completely dry and not wet at all was torture. As I added songs, I kept thinking, “Hooooly crap, this sounds so good. It’s 2 P.M., but I need to take a bath right now. Should I take a bath right now?”
What to expect on this relaxing playlist:
Beautiful songs and beautiful lyrics
A healthy amount of women singing
Music from the ‘60s onward
Slacker rock and soft rock
Alt-country
Lots of acoustic
