15 Songs I'm Digging Right Now: #23

Can someone let me know if I'm going insane about the new Sabrina Carpenter/Dolly Parton song?

15 Songs I’m Digging Right Now #23! Wow. Can you believe I’ve been doing this for 23 years already? Is anyone else excited to hear the new White Lotus music? The list of anticipations for the new season are as follows:
1. Parker Posey
2. Cristobal Tapia de Veer’s take on the music of Thailand.
End of list! I know in the next few weeks my curious ass will go hunting for cool Thai music myself and I promise to share any and all good finds with you.

Before you dive into the music in this week, can you please watch this entire video of Youssef El Kaouakibi dancing? Around the :42 mark, he switches up the style and the crowd goes insane and I cannot count the times I’ve run the video back to watch that exact moment. It’s this week’s Video Of The Week!

Here’s this week’s first song for free:

“Cool Spy on a Hot Car / クールなスパイでぶっとばせ” - Flipper’s Guitar (1990)
Spotify | Apple | YouTube | TIDAL
My favorite track off a very good Japanese rock album. The riff that kicks in at :37 feels like the cousin of the opening song from Baby Driver, if you’re into that sort of thing.

I love the new release of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” with Dolly Parton. So often when legends get on a buzzy track, they do their verse and go. But Dolly is all over that thing with additional harmonies. It’s nice! But I write this because I am dying to know: Does anyone else think Dolly sounds weirdly far away from the mic during her verse? Am I going crazy? PLEASE LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS.
