Sorry, I was busy listening to Kendrick’s new album and reading all the tweets about how Jack Antonoff went off and how Father John Misty and Kendrick accidentally became the new Barbenheimer.
This Friday 15 is a really fun one! Yes, I share my favorite tracks off Kendrick’s album.
"Somebody New" - Blossom Dearie (1973)
Vocal Jazz | Cool Jazz | Blues
Spotify | Apple | YouTube | TIDAL | Amazon
Oh, oh, oh. I love Blossom Dearie’s voice. But this track really stands out to me because of the instrumentation. The bass goes off. The drums go off. It’s just such a cool song. And Blossom is playing a Fender Rhodes, which is an electric piano you may recognize as the instrument Vince Guaraldi uses in a lot of his Peanuts stuff. In 2019, I had a first date in Manhattan that went so well I spent the next morning walking around downtown listening to this on repeat. It’s that type of song.
Congrats, @ryzehendricks! Your video is Video Of The Week. If you’re reading this, please release this on Spotify.
